Chateau de Montaigut Cotes du Bourg Bordeaux, France

Chateau de Montaigut

In the village of St. Ciers de Canesse, located three miles northwest of Bourg sur Gironde, on the highest hill of the region, lies the Chateau Montaigut vineyards. Francois de Pardieu, owner of the Estate and winemaker extraordinaire, bought this property in 1975 and grouped four adjoining properties into one to make what is now the Chateau Montaigut vineyard. The location and its different soils, red graves and argile, affords the opportunity to produce grapes that make exceptional, well-balanced, full bodied and very typical Cotes de Bourg wines as well as offering an exceptional view of the hills, the river, and the Medoc region. The classic varietals of the Cotes de Bourg appellation make up Francois' Bordeaux; 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. The grapes are hand harvested and have a maceration period of 12 to 20 days, followed by traditional vinification under controlled temperatures. The wine is then stored in stainless steel vats.

Chateau Montaigut Gold Label
A selection of about 20% of this wine goes into new oak barrels for a period of one year to make the Chateau Montaigut Gold Label. A short aging in the bottle follows.

A Bordeaux with a rich color that is full-bodied and well balanced. This wine can be appreciated immediately or cellared for many years. A fine accompaniment to red meats, game & sharp cheeses. Serve at room temperature.
